# Starting Your First Project | Studio

> Use Studio to sketch garments and footwear and generate renders in real time.

Studio is Vizcom's canvas for sketching, layering, and generating ideas in real time. For apparel and footwear designers, it's the fastest way to explore silhouettes, colorways, and material treatments before moving into tech packs or production.

## Creating a Studio File

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create a new file">
    From the Home screen, select **New File**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start in Studio">
    Choose **Start in Studio** and give your file a name — e.g. `SS26_Outerwear_SilhouetteA` or `Running_Shoe_Upper_Exploration`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose a starting point">
    Select a **template** (try a croquis or flat sketch template) or **upload a hand sketch or flat**, then click **Create**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start designing">
    Once inside, you can:

    * Sketch directly on the canvas to explore silhouette and construction lines
    * Add and organize layers for base garment, details, trims, and colorways
    * Write prompts to guide rendering — e.g. *"women's bomber jacket, washed nylon, oversized fit, flat lay"*
    * Use **Real-Time Render** to instantly visualize fabric, texture, and color
    * Use **Enhance** to refine material quality and finish
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Use layers to quickly swap colorways on the same silhouette — render each variant to build a full colorway presentation without starting over.
