How to use Region Maps
Open your product render
Open your product render in Vizcom.
Select Region Maps
Look for Region Maps in the toolbar and select it.
Automatic segmentation
Region Maps automatically segments your image into individual parts.
Edit any part
Select any part and change its color, apply a palette, or add materials.
Save as a new base
Save your edited version as a new Workbench base to build on.
Segmentation
Automatically split product images into editable parts, with manual controls to refine when needed.
Open Region Maps
Open your product render and select Region Maps.
Automatic analysis
Region Maps automatically analyzes the image and creates regions based on color, material, and geometric boundaries.
Review and refine
Review the segments. If you need adjustments:
- Add a Region — Manually draw boundaries around parts the algorithm missed.
- Edit Region Boundary — Adjust where one region ends and another begins.
- Divide a Region — Split a single region into multiple for finer control.
- Regenerate Segmentation — Start fresh with automatic segmentation.
Move to color editing
Once satisfied, move to color editing.
Color Editing
Paint each part independently using the color picker, saved libraries, or coordinated palettes. No re-renders needed.
Open a segmented render
Open a segmented product render in Region Maps.
Select a part
Select any part (region) to edit its color.
Apply a single color
Use the color picker, select from your library, or drag a color from the material stack onto the part.
Apply a full palette
Select a coordinated palette and apply it across multiple parts at once.
Drag and drop
Drag colors or palettes directly onto any region for a faster workflow.
Every edit stacks, so you build variations without losing earlier work.
Palette Application
Swap entire colorways in one click. Apply coordinated color systems instantly.
Open a segmented render
Open a segmented product render with regions ready to edit.
Choose a palette
Select a palette from your saved library or create a new one.
Apply to all parts
Apply the palette across all regions simultaneously.
Apply to specific parts
Select a subset of regions and apply only to those.
Drag and drop a palette
Drag a palette chip directly onto regions.
Every palette application stacks, so you can layer effects or revert to previous versions.
Material & Texture Application
Layer depth and realism. Add textures, patterns, and materials on top of colors.
Open a colored render
Open a segmented and colored product render.
Select a region
Select a region where you want to add texture or material.
Upload from computer
Upload texture files directly. Textures scale and tile automatically.
Use your saved library
Browse your organization’s saved material library.
Drag and drop a material
Drag a material or texture from the library onto any region.
Layer materials
Apply multiple textures on top of colors. Control how each layer interacts.
Manage your stack
View all edits in order, remove individual materials, or reorder layers.
Saving & Iteration
Build your design system. Save every variation as a starting point.
Export your render
After segmenting and editing your product render, select Export.
Save as a new Vizcom file
Save your edited version as a new Vizcom file. All segmentation, colors, and materials are preserved.
Use as a Workbench base
Use this file as your Workbench base. Open it anytime and create variations without re-segmenting.
Create a naming system
Use a pattern like [ProductName]_[ColorDirection]_v1, [ProductName]_[ColorDirection]_v2, and so on.
Build a library of bases
Save bases for common products so new projects start faster.
Share across your team
Share bases so everyone builds on the same segmentation.
